Why we don't count your waivers

September 1, 2026 · Chris, waivers.tattoo

5 of the 9 tattoo waiver apps we priced charge by the signed waiver. A tier that includes 100 waivers a month. Another for 300. Another for 1,000. And a line in the fine print: past your cap, each waiver is $0.15, or $0.25, or $0.50.

Billing by the waiver makes sense for the vendor. It does not make sense for a tattoo shop.

What billing by the waiver costs a real shop

Take a busy single-location shop that signs about 290 waivers a month, which is the real number at one of the shops on this tool. Covering that volume on a tool that bills by the waiver costs $49 to $59 a month, on the 3 pricing pages as they stood on 2026-09-21: WaiverFile's Business plan is $49 and includes 400 waivers, eWaiverPro's Growth Plus+ is $59 and includes 500, and WaiverSign's Professional is $49 and includes 250, so a 290-waiver month there pays $0.15 on top for every waiver past the cap. eWaiverPro's cheapest tier buys 55 submissions, which is under a week for a shop like that. A convention weekend or a guest artist can push a shop over its cap and into overage without anyone noticing until the bill arrives.

Now take a quieter shop, one that signs 90 a month. It pays for a tier it barely uses, and pays the same in January as in July.

Either way the shop is being charged for something that costs the vendor almost nothing. A signed waiver is a few kilobytes and an email.

What we charge instead

$50 a year per shop. Unlimited waivers. Unlimited artists. That is about what the tools that bill by the waiver charge a busy shop for 1 month. Or $5 a month, if you'd rather not pay for the year up front.

5 waivers or 500, the bill is $50 for the year. A busy weekend costs you nothing extra. A slow month costs you nothing extra either.

Why one number

Because the thing that makes the product good is the thing a per-waiver price punishes. The whole point is that every client signs, every time, without anyone at the counter deciding whether this one is worth a waiver. Billing by the waiver puts a small price on each one, and it puts that decision at the counter. One flat number removes both.

And because the pitch is not "cheapest." Free waiver forms exist. A studio suite gives them away to sell you the rest of the suite, and one developer gives one away outright, emailed to you and kept nowhere else. The pitch is a form built for the trade, a client list that builds itself, a record that survives the inspector, and a price you can predict to the dollar for the next year.

The fine print, all of it

  • $50 a year, or $5 a month, per shop.
  • Unlimited signed waivers. Unlimited artists. The client list and CSV exports included.
  • More than one shop? Each one is its own $50 a year, its own subdomain and QR code, under 1 login. Conventions, guest spots, and pop-ups ride on your shop's QR at no extra charge.
  • You sign your first waivers free. We ask for a card once you know it fits your counter.
  • Cancel any time. Export every signed waiver and your full client list before you go.

That is the whole pricing page. It fits on one screen.
